World Environmental Health Day & 2017 CEHA International Exchange Event

Tuesday, September 26th, 2017 (all day)

Location: North West Region, England

World Environmental Health Day
26 September 2017

26 September has by the International Federation of Environmental Health been declared:

World Environmental Health Day

to be celebrated each year

Theme for the 2017 World Environmental Health Day:
Indoor & outdoor air quality

The choice of this theme is very relevant as on 6th March 2017 Margaret Chan, Director General WHO launched a worldwide campaign to tackle air pollution as the ‘major public health issue of our generation’. WHO states that poor quality air affects more than 80% of the world’s population.

What better way to celebrate World Environmental Health Day than as CEHA’s delegate to the North West Region of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (England)? The North West Region conducts its annual Continuing Professional Development Day in conjunction with World Environmental Health Day.

The North West Region invites CEHA to send a delegate: “We are hoping that the recent events in Manchester and London will not put off our colleagues in California from applying to visit the UK this September, as your North-West friends are looking forward to making suitable arrangements for the successful delegate. As always, we will try to make any visitor safe and comfortable, for a memorable stay.”

INTERNATIONAL EXCHANGE OPPORTUNITY

APPLICATION | HERE

CEHA is twinned with the North West Region, of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, England. Each year, the two groups reciprocate delegates. This year, the North Western Region has offered to host the CEHA delegate on or about 26th September, to attend the Lake District study day, (Continuing Professional Development Day).

This is a marvelous opportunity for a member to attend an international function representing CEHA. It has been customary for our delegate to spend time in the north west of England 'shadowing' one or two environmental health officers (EHOs) to see the type of work done. This opportunity is available to a CEHA member who has not previously represented CEHA at any international function.

The candidate application for the 2017 CEHA delegate is below. Please feel free to provide additional information. Please complete and return the application and any attachments to Diane Eastman, Chair, CEHA International Committee, to deastman@west.net or to:

CEHA International Committee
Attn: Diane Eastman
PO Box 3069, Ventura, CA 93006

as soon as possible. Application review and selection will commence August 15 to allow the chosen delegate time to arrange for
travel.

Questions and completed applications may also be emailed to deastman@west.net. The final selection will be made by the CEHA President.
